Hope Home Trust was set up in 2008 as a registered charity to "Advance in life and relieve the needs of orphaned children in Tanzania through provision of homes education and Christian care. In particular, we aim to support the work of Hope Home, Moshi, Tanzania"

 

All the money raised or given to Hope Home Trust goes to provide for the children at Kitaa Hope Home, either to support them at the Home or to pay for their education.  Any administrative expenses incurred here in the UK are covered by the Trustees.

 

As a part of our responsibility to our supporters, Trustees have made (self-funded) visits to Moshi in 2011, 2013, 2015, 2018 and 2022.

 

It was our pleasure in 2011 to to meet Mama Esta and the children in their original, unsuitable rented accommodation and see for ourselves the land which the Trust had bought and the progress of the buildings.

 

In 2013 we spent more time getting to know the children in the home we, together, had provided for them.

 

In 2015 our focus was on the budget: finding out the real costs involved in running Kitaa and the quality of education and opportunity available to the children. Detailed discussions enabled us to produce a budget which more closely reflects the needs at Hope Home.

 

In 2018 our focus was on schooling with visits to all the current schools, primary and secondary. We thanked the head-teachers for their support of the children already at their schools and accompanied the borders as they started the new school year.

In February 2022, a trip delayed two years by Covid-19, we prioritised re-connecting with staff, meeting new children, exploring the benefits and provision of Day Care, and areas of development including maintenance, home-study and staff productivity.
